6 Weeks: Time to Buy Stock in Pickles

Well, I'm following suit to Mom's first pregnancy: the crazy cravings for pickles have officially began. I have always loved pickels, but now it's every day I crave having a few of them (and yep- even drinking a spoon full of pickle juice!) I read it means I have low sodium levels, but, I just think it's damn good.

The belly is starting to protrude a bit more, I'm still exhausted early in the evening, a little short of breath, boobs are a bit more sensitive, I get car-sick even easier than before (so house-hunting has been a real joy), but it's not too bad... it could be way worse, and I'm enjoying my ride so far! We'll head to our first ultrasound next Friday, and so can not wait, as we should get to see and hear a little heartbeat if all goes well. I'm a little nervous, but so excited! It's been an experience trying to talk with the hospital, the women's clinic & the insurance company to determine what will be covered and at what levels. That's health care & insurance for ya though- good thing that's the industry we work in... not that it gives you ANY advantage!

Mom & Dad came up last weekend for Memorial Day. We enjoyed some hiking, the boys went golfing, and lots of great food (Filet, Mashed Potatoes, Chicken Sausages, Salads, Lemon Meringue Pie). Mom also bought a Giraffe Moma & Baby painting for our nursurey entitled "First Born", ironically enough, and our first Giraffe Onesie :)

Still counting down until we can share the news with more friends & family! I bought a little soft baby lamb hat on Etsy.com that shipped this morning, so we think we'll be using this to annouce to people shortly after our ultrasound appointment. Can't wait! <3

5 Weeks & Counting!

It's generally unacceptable to be having a parade about the fact that your pregnant when you are only 5 weeks along, so I'm secretly beaming within. I can't wait to share the news with all our family and friends further down the road. We found out this past Saturday (the 18th) by taking a second test (I took the first test the Sunday prior and it was negative to our disappointment).. but nearly a week later, experiencing some minor symptoms, I took another test, and it was ever so faintly, POSITIVE! I was shocked beyond belief, ran out to the living room with a huge smile and watery eyes, and asked Dennis, "Ready to have a BABY?!" He immediately jumped up to hug me and we embraced in that moment the 2 of us were turning into 3.

A few minutes later, I was texting my Mom the picture of the positive test, and then just a few hours later, we were en route to Phoenix to celebrate the news. My mom already had a little snuggle monkey toy and 2 books waiting for me. Someone was excited ;) Sunday morning we did another test to be sure, and yep,  it was positive.

Fast forward to today, and I am now 5 weeks along (after the 2 baby books that I pre-purchased, and the 2 Mom already gifted me... I've at least figured out that you date your pregnancy back to the first day of your last period). I'm enjoying eating for two with the healthiest meals possible (Chicken, Steaks, Turkey, moderate amounts of Fish, spinach salads, raw almonds, tons of veggies and fruits, brown rice, potatoes, sweet-potatoes, cottage cheese, pickles... and ok, some ice cream :), lots of veggie juice, milk, water, and daily pre-natals. Making sure to go for walks every morning and almost every afternoon when Dennis gets home from work... a little weight training and stretching here and there. I will probably start doing pre-natal yoga once I am closer to the second tri. I go for my first Dr. visit tomorrow--- first time with this Doctor, hoping I like him, and that all is well in the belly!!!

Positive!
